The 2011 Champagne Classic will jump as Race 3 at Doomben this weekend and promises to deliver one of the most memorable races on the card.
Golden Slipper runner Hot Snitzel is a big favourite in the field however there is plenty of local competition dotted throughout the field.
Two year old races are always exciting and nothing is ever guaranteed when a dozen or so inexperienced horse are together across a 1200m trip.
While Hot Snitzel may have proved himself as a composed juvenile there’s no way to guarantee he won’t run into trouble if a rival plays up during the run.
That’s what keeps the betting race a lot more open and what gives punters confidence in backing horses at long odds.
While nothing is for certain in horse racing, especially in events like this, there are ways to give yourself the best winning chance and that’s what we endeavour to do with our 2011 Champagne Classic Tips.

2011 Champagne Classic Tips
1st – Hot Snitzel
He’s the obvious choice why shouldn’t he be given the performances that he’s shown so far throughout his career. He performed well enough to get a start in the Golden Slipper and while he never looked a chance, just getting into that field is a testament to his ability. Last start on the Gold Coast he cruised to victory by more than six lengths and there’s no reason his form should be any less impressive. The only issue with him in this race is the awkward draw with barrier nine but if Corey Brown gets him a run on the straight this horse is the winner.

2nd – Show A Prince
This is the best hope for the Queenslanders and what a hope he is too with two wins and a second from three starts. He’ll jump from the inside of the favourite with barrier seven and will likely find a spot near the fence in the third or fourth row. He won’t make his move until the final 400m and with a bit of luck there’ll be a path for him without having to travel too wide. If he’s alongside the favourite I don’t know if he has the quality but he’ll be no pushover and with any lead he’ll take some catching. He won at Doomben over the 1200m last start in April.

3rd – Belle D’Amour
This horse has never won a race but she’s had no luck in any of her runs and is due to catch a break at Doomben tomorrow. On debut in November last year this filly came from barrier 11 to run second to Pane In The Glass by only a length. That proves this horses ability and once again in her last start she dealt with a bad gate coming from barrier 14 to run third by less than half a length. She’s got no favours again with barrier 11 once more however she’s up to the grade and only needs a run. Expect her to push forward and on the small straight expect her to be fighting right to the line.
